Youth Bail Support Services Announced in Alice Springs and Darwin

New bail support services in the Territory will be provided by Saltbush Social Enterprises in Darwin and Alice Springs.

$4.86 million has been allocated to youth bail support services in Darwin and Alice Springs as part of the Better Outcomes For Youth Justice Reform.

Minister for Territory Families Dale Wakefield said, “The final report for the Royal Commission into the Protection and Detention of Children in the Northern Territory made it very clear our youth justice system was not working,

“Bail support services will improve bail accountability by providing the support and supervision that young people need to meet their bail conditions.”

Bail support accommodation, bail supervision, and the bail support line are all included in the bail support services. Saltbush Social Enterprises will run the bail support line 24/7 (1800 224 533) including public holidays.
