DAIWS Critical Intervention Outreach Service Overview

The Darwin Aboriginal and Islander Women’s Shelter (DAIWS) provides culturally appropriate and safe services for women and their children affected by domestic and/or family violence, as well as homelessness.

DAIWS’s critical intervention outreach service helps victims safely navigate domestic and family violence providing the following services:

  • Victim advocacy
  • support at appointments
  • counselling
  • Casework and case management
  • Proactive targeted outreach support
  • Individualised safety plans
  • Parenting support

The areas serviced by DAIWS are Darwin, Palmerston, Northern Suburbs and Rural, including town camps Railway Dam (One Mile) and Adelaide River. Indigenous communities including Acacia, Larrakia, Knuckey Lagoon, Kulaluk, Minmarama Park, Palmerston Indigenous Village, Bagot and Belyuen.
